ABOUT SHANET DENNIS
Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Shanet has aspired to write since the early age of seven. Before
the talented author decided to get lost in her writing endeavors, her career in acting was on the rise. She
studied acting in grade school and took college level courses while paying her dues as an extra on such
shows as Girlfriends, The Parkers, ER, Friends and many others. She could also be seen in such music
videos as Floetry’s Say Yes, Busta Rhymes and Diddy’s Pass the Courvoisier, Ushers You Don’t Have to
Call, and Missy Elliot’s Pass That Dutch. Not wanting to be labeled as a video girl, she quickly shied
away from the video gigs and kept her focus strictly on long-term acting opportunities. Shanet finally
gained enough experience to join the Screen Actors Guild after working on the hit movie Friday After
Next. She soon went on to take stand-in jobs for Megan Good in You Got Served, as well as Christina
Milian in Love Don't Cost a Thing. Her small appearance in Hussle and Heat featuring Dwayne Martin
and Vivica Fox was her last in the acting genre. The time away from home and family proved to be too
costly and catapulted her decision to focus on her writing. Forced to take on a full-time accounting job to
pay the bills, the dream of publishing her first book didn’t happen overnight. It did however, come with
time and years of life lessons. Now author, entrepreneur and founder of GAB Publishing, Shanet is a
prime example that with prayer, a pen, and a plan, you can truly write your own destiny.
