ARE YOU OFFENDED LIL MONKEY? HOW DOES THIS MAKE YOU FEEL?
Are we offended too easy when it comes to cultural sensitivity?
Recently at Costco in Greensboro NC a doll was pulled off the shelves for complaints of being offensive as it is an African American doll with a Monkey as a sidekick. The cap the Doll has says "Lil Monkey"
Now anyone who knows me knows I collect Monkeys so maybe my bias opinion is why I did NOT find this offensive BUT just a bad design descision..... are you offended? (keep in mind...doll is not ONLY available in the African-American form)

Hell yeah im offended thats the over for the under move....they shoulda put the hat on the monkey not the baby!!!!!!

Right, so thats why I say bad design- new question...does that fact that it comes in other races change your opinion any?

Personally I would not buy the doll with "Lil Monkey" labelled on the dolls hat for my neices no matter what race the doll is. My son and my neices are all bi-racial so race of the doll is not the issue. The doll and the monkey are cute, but the makers should have thought of this issue before they marketed it!
