IS THE HIP HOP COMMUNITY/URBAN CULTURE TO BLAME FOR THE DEMISE OF NUMEROUS FASHION LINES?

I was listening to an old song the other day where Lil' Wayne mentioned wearing BAPE's. It made me think for a second like, "What ever happened to BAPE? Nobody really wears that anymore." Then I got to thinking about some other name brands that seem to hit real hard then vanish into thin air. It's almost like we, the urban culture, can kill a brand. One minute, every rapper is rapping about it, your whole neighborhood is wearing it, 7 mile is knocking it off, then POOF! Another great brand now listed under the "Who wears that anymore?" class. No wonder certain designers try to stay away from marketing to the hip hop community. lol There's no real loyalty. Everything is a fad. Look at Evisu jeans...I predict Ed Hardy to be next (if it hasn't happened already).
