About Me:: I was born to be an artist, more to come...............Being able to transcend my talent as a visual artist and to recognize the talent in other artists requires an exceptional person with extreme insights. Few people in the art world can claim these as rightly as me. I started my career in the field of visual arts by developing a finely tuned listening ear which later helped me to create a style which reflected what I heard. A Minneapolis native, the love of art is in my genes. My Father, Charles Caldwell, is a mixed-media artist known for his contribution to the Black art community for the past 25 years. I have been strongly influenced by my father and have worked to crate a body of work that stands on its own. My talents were recognized at an early age (first grade) as I had my first official public showing in MPLS while enrolled at North High School. I have always had the support of family, friends, and community in pursuit of my dream as an artist. I have learned how important it is to craft the continued acknowledgement of exceptional talents among up and coming African-American artists truly is - artists whose works have historically been overshadowed by more established visual artists. I create bodies of work to show that young talent can transcend race through the multiple expressions of art. I My works reminiscent of Ernie Barnes, and a unique contemporary sensibility, my pieces recreate the energy and spirit of the African-American experience from the Harlem Renaissance to today's Hip Hop era. Lessons learned from my travels across the country to exhibit my work, combined with my own personal experiences, have contributed greatly to the continuous evolution of my craft.
