Well..........I....sorta....um .... I registered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training to run the Rock & Roll San Diego Marathon on June 5th!  Yes, that’s 26.2 really long miles.

HAIR RAISING NEWS RIGHT?!?!?!?

OK, you can get up off the floor, stop placing your bets on which mile I will pass out at... I know this may be hard to believe.  Trust me I have a reason that is well worth the sacrifice.

So how am I going to get through this?  When nothing else works, inspiration and motivation will come from my cousin Sabrina Walton who was diagnosed with leukemia as a teenager.  We both have an abnormal obsession with collecting dope kicks/sneakers. I figured the least I could do to honor her would be to lace up a pair for a good cause. With the aide from research and proper care Sabrina, now in her 30’s, made it through some of her toughest battles, but it still affected with health issues related to her Leukemia. The challenges I have yet to face are nothing compared to the challenges that Sabrina and so many others face every day.

Bottom line....I NEED your support.  I have set myself a fundraising goal of $5,000, 76% of that will be used by LLS for research, patient aid, and education!  NO DONATION IS TOO GREAT OR SMALL…every bit helps!

You can also leave me words of encouragement because let's be real...I will need those too!

If you are unable to contribute financially at this time, I ask that you keep me and all involved in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in your prayers.  That, too, will make a huge difference.

What you should know:

  • Someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer every 4 minutes.
  • Every 10 minutes someone will lose their battle with a blood cancer.
  • The good news is that the survival rates for blood cancers have more than doubled since 1970.

Thank you in advance for your support!  I cannot wait to keep you all updated on my progress and the advances being made by LLS.  Please check out my Web site  http://pages.teamintraining.org/mn/rnr11/blewisj8gu and contact me with any questions I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Love you all,

Bianca

P.S.  If you know anyone affected by Leukemia or Lymphoma I can also run in their honor. Forward their name to be included on a ribbon pinned to my race jersey.
